How to Cook Crab Bamboo Shoot Soup With Chicken

You often hear about crab soup, shrimp soup, or pumpkin soup, but with crab bamboo shoot soup – it may feel a bit strange if you haven’t had the opportunity to try it. This is actually quite a familiar soup in restaurant menus. Crab meat is prepared with asparagus – a resonance that results in an interesting, nutritious, healthy soup, especially for young children.


  • 250g chicken
  • 100g shredded crab meat
  • 10 boiled quail eggs
  • 1 box of asparagus
  • 1 chicken egg
  • 5 teaspoons cornstarch

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Asparagus: Remove from the box, remove the water and cut into bite-sized pieces. Blanch briefly with boiling water, take out and drain.

Step 1: Boil the Chicken

Step 3: Cook Bamboo Shoots and Crab Soup

Bring the chicken broth to a boil again, drop in the asparagus and the peeled quail eggs. Slowly pour in the egg, stirring with chopsticks to form beautiful white streaks. Next, add the crab meat along with the chicken in one turn.

Season with a little seasoning including 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon MSG, 1 teaspoon pepper. Bring to a boil a little more, then pour in the cornstarch water. At this point, the soup pot will have consistency. You can taste it to see if it is just right or not to reduce it appropriately. Note that the soup should not be too strong to taste delicious.

Step 4: Enjoy

Ladle crab bamboo shoot soup with chicken into a bowl, add a few drops of sesame oil or olive oil to enhance the aroma. Sprinkle a little more pepper along with cilantro and you’re done.
